This term Foundation A and Foundation C went to Essendon Traffic School to learn about road and bike safety.
In term 3, a pilot program was delivered at Fawkner Primary School, delivering free dental check-ups for children in Foundation.
The dental team from Merri Health worked with the Youth Health Promotion team to deliver a talk with students about healthy foods, healthy drinks and the importance of brushing your teeth and visiting the dentist, as well as having a dental check.
All Foundation students who participated, learnt more about dental health and enjoyed receiving a sticker and toothbrush to take home.
All families received a letter after the visit with recommendations for their child.

Last term the grade 5/6’s were invited to enter into a competition for ‘Latitude’ which is a trampoline and aerial activity centre in Heidelberg. Kids (and big kids) can bounce, climb and fly. The competition is called ‘Think. Design. Win.’ Many schools were invited to enter and they needed to make a design for a blank wall for the bungee jumping space. 3 of our student’s entries have been shortlisted! These are Azra’s, Lulu’s and Kayla’s designs.

On Tuesday the 13th of June, Foundation C and Foundation A went on an excursion to the Collingwood Children’s Farm. We were all very excited as our Integrated Studies topic this semester has been about ‘Farm Animals’.
On Friday the 19th of May grades 3/4 A and G had an exciting excursion at The Royal Melbourne Zoo. All of the 3/4’s participated in a challenge called the ‘Local Legends’. The challenge was to spot five endangered animals which were the Philippines crocodile, long nosed fur seal, the Helmeted Honey Eater, the Corroboree Frog and the Lord Howe Island stick insect. We also had to come up with some ideas to try and save these animals.
Congratulations and well done to all the students who attended and represented Fawkner Primary School at the Glenroy District Cross Country event on Thursday 25th May. Our school competed with 10 other schools on the day.
Grade 6 students from Fawkner Primary School were invited to visit Maygar Barracks to commemorate the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux, where many Australian soldiers lost their lives during World War 1.
