Our playgroup is in full swing! Parents and children love our new venue and surroundings!
Foundation and Foundation/One are extremely lucky to have Ms. Heidi come and help develop the children’s garden skills and eat fresh, grown fruit and vegetables from our own veggie garden!
The Better Buddies Program involves Foundation and Grade 6 students meeting every Thursday afternoon to work together on various activities throughout the year.
Congratulations to Prep student Batul and her parent – Sakina – who were the winning family of the Community Grocer fruit and vegetable box!
Batul and her family walked to school for the healthy breakfast on Thursday, 29th of October.
To be as healthy as possible and also get the full range of nutrients we need to keep our bodies going, dieticians recommend that we eat a minimum amount of serves of vegetables and fruits every day.
For many years, Fawkner Primary School has committed to improving the health and wellbeing of its students, staff and community.
We are currently working towards becoming a Healthy School as part of the State Government’s Healthy Together Achievement Program, with a focus on healthy eating and oral health.
This includes a healthy eating policy, teaching about healthy foods in the classroom, and improving our canteen.
Everyone can play a role in helping to improve nutrition and health outcomes for our school community. If would like to be involved, please contact Maria Weston (Assistant Principal).
Canteen operates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
We offer healthy food only and do not sell fatty foods, chips, ice creams or soft drinks.
Our canteen menu includes hot meals of pasta, pizza, or fried rice, as well as a salad roll, salad sandwich, a plain cheese sandwich or a vegemite sandwich which can be toasted.
The drinks we offer are low fat chocolate milk and either Just Juice orange juice or apple juice.
We keep our prices low as we do not aim to make a profit, rather we want children to eat healthy food that is available at an affordable price.
The canteen staff are volunteer parents, who prepare the sandwiches and rolls from fresh ingredients. The school pays for volunteers to be trained in a Food Handling course.
